What causes Palpitations?




It is not normal that we can count our heartbeats without using any apparatus or techniques. When we can hear our heartbeat, it is called palpitation.

According to Dr. Roland “Oyie” Balburias in the TV show Pinoy MD, There are numerous diseases that may cause palpitations.

Palpitations may be caused by drinking caffeine-rich beverages like coffee.
Palpitations may be caused by metabolic reasons which mean that this could be caused by thyroid disease.





Palpitations may also be caused by mechanical reasons like the structure of the heart. It could mean that there is a problem with the circulation of blood throughout the body. Palpitations may also be caused by Arrhythmia which is an irregularity of the beating of a person’s heart.

Palpitations may also be caused by the human body’s initial reaction when a person is suffering from anemia or when that person lacks the necessary flow of blood and oxygen throughout his or her body.
Palpitations may be caused by various diseases. It is advisable for persons who experience palpitations to consult with a doctor. It is ideal to consult with a cardiologist.

One of the common tests which will be administered by the cardiologist in finding out the cause of a patient’s palpitations is an ECG to determine if there are irregularities in the heartbeats of a person.
