Foreign workers minimum wage is set to increase by 5% next year


Taiwan's monthly minimum wage for foreign workers is set to increase by 5% next year. Currently Taiwan's minimum salary is at NT$22,000 by adding the additional 5% increase the new minimum wages will be NT$23,000. and will take effect on the January 1, 2019.


Based on the recommendation made by the Ministry of labor's Basic wage Committee, the current hourly wage will increase by 7.14% from NT$140 to NT$150  per hour. Once the new hike take effect, 450,000 foreign workers are set to benefit from this.

However, some labor groups were not entirely satisfied by MOL's Basic Wage Deliberation Committee's decision. Because some of them have suggested the monthly salary should be adjusted to NT$28,862 per month and an hourly rate of NT$182, reported by Taiwan News
