Gold Bars and Jewelries found inside a discarded wood Cabinet in Taitung Country
NT$ 1,000,000 worth of gold bars and pieces of jewelry were discovered after an attempt of a Taiwan local to recycle the wood of an old wood cabinet.
The woodworker from Chihsang Township or Mr. Deng brought the collection of gold bars and jewelry to the police station.
The owner of the cabinet was located by the police. The said owner of the cabinet had thrown the wood cabinet during the Lunar New Year while he was spring cleaning.
Mr. Zhuang, the owner of the wood cabinet showed to the police the official receipts and other forms of proof of ownership to the gold bars and jewelry. According to Mr. Zhuang, the contents of the wood cabinet were purchased by his grandparents.
Mr. Zhuang offered to give the woodworker and his wife a red envelope containing NT$ 10,000. at first, the couple rejected it but with the help of the police from Chih-chang Police Station, it was later then accepted by the couple and the entire amount was donated to the Guanshan Holy Cross Hospice by the couple.
