A female Filipino overseas worker working in Taiwan gets diagnosed with an advanced form of cervical cancer. The Filipina worker had been given an amount equal to NT$70,000 or US$ 2,273. The said amount will be used by the OFW to return home. The money will also help her pay for the medical treatments needed to put her in a stable condition so that she can return home.
The sick Filipina had been working with her Taiwanese employer for almost three years since April of 2016. She had been diagnosed with an advanced type of cervical cancer when she suddenly passed out due to intense abdominal pain during work and was rushed to Show Chwan Memorial Hospital by her employer with some financial assistance from the OFW’s employment agency. After several medical examinations, it was later found out that she is under the state of organ failure due to her cancer.

The doctor said that due to her advanced cervical cancer, her life could end at any moment. The doctor also advised that the OFW be given palliative care.
The OFW had no choice but to work abroad when her husband in the Philippines had been in great amounts of debt due to failures from businesses he established. Also, she worked abroad to give her only daughter the best life she could give her.
A charitable organization from Changhua awarded NT$ 20,000 to the OFW after hearing her story. And the remaining NT$50,000 was donated to her by her employment agency. For a total of NT$70,000, the Filipina overseas worker will have enough money to go back to the Philippines and pay for her medical expenses
The Filipina had been in a stable condition. Her employment agency is currently in the move in fixing her flight back to the Philippines.
