Two were hurt and Several Properties were damaged after Tornado Left its Wrath in Southern Taiwan
In southern Taiwan, two were hurt and many houses and other buildings were damaged by the tornado. More than seven thousand households in two villages suffered power outage as the tornado passed through their area around three in the afternoon, Monday, July 1, 2019.
The tornado had damaged lots of public and private properties of the residents of the Zhen’an Village in Linbian Township and Wanhua Village in Nanzhou Township which is 390 Km South of Taipei in Taiwan. An example of the damages it caused are collapsed scaffolding, destroyed electrical posts, destroyed parts of residential houses that were built with light materials and more.
According to Taiwan Power Co., around 7,400 families in those two villages lost power because of the uprooted electrical posts or destroyed transmission lines in their area.
Based on a statement by the Pingtung Fire Department, local disaster responders are still estimating the actual damage of the said catastrophe as of five in the afternoon of July 1, 2019.
According to the Linbian Township chief Chen Chu-chi, large tornados are rarely experienced in Taiwan and that the people of the villages were shocked by the strength and power of the tornado that devastated their village.
Chen Chu-chi also reported that two of the members of their village were hurt by flying debris and uprooted banana trees and wax apple trees.
Based on a report by the Central Weather Bureau’s Pintung station, the tornado had reached the Linbian Township around 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
