2,000 Skilled Workers Needed in Yukon, Canada
According to a news report from TV Patrol, Yukon, Canada, and the Philippines had signed an agreement regarding the need of Yukon, Canada of skilled workers. In the agreement, the Philippines will be sourcing Yukon with 2,000 Pinoy skilled workers every year.
Yukon is located in the northern part of Canada. It has a population of only 20,000 people in its capital city White Horse.
Secretary Silvestre Bello of the Department of Labor and Employment said that the 20,000 population of the capital city of Yukon is smaller than the population of the barangays in the Philippines. He also said that the booming industries in Yukon are mining and salmon.
Based on the statement by Secretary Bello, Yukon, Canada will be needing skilled workers like nurses, caregivers, engineer, heavy equipment/machine operator, chefs, and teachers. The minimum salary will be 80,000 pesos.
Secretary Bello had already ordered POEA to help the applicants who are processing their papers to work in Canada.
Bello believes that the employment opportunities in Yukon, Canada will have no problems. He believes that the Filipinos who will be working there will be well-protected and well-respected.
Filipinos who are planning to apply for the job vacancies in Yukon, Canada says that the healthcare benefits there are desirable.
According to the statement of the POEA, the deployment of OFWs to Yukon, Canada will be on a government-to-government track. This means that POEA will be the ones to handle the applications of Filipinos and there will be no charging of placement fees.
As of the moment, POEA is still processing the job orders. Interested applicants are advised to wait for its release in the POEA website.
