A foreigner was arrested on November 2, 2019, after he had tried to climb on one of the planes of China Airlines (CAL). During that time, the plane was preparing to take-off at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The airport did not yet release any statement regarding the matter.
It was reported that the foreigner was from Belarus but authorities are still verifying the man’s nationality.
After staying overnight at the immigration detention facility in the airport, the foreigner was later on sent to the prosecutor’s office in Taoyuan District on November 3, 2019. He violated the Civil Aviation Act. The foreigner was charged with trespassing in the restricted area on the airport’s premises.
The foreigner did not say anything upon his arrest despite the efforts of immigration officers to talk with him in different languages. He was arrested around two in the afternoon on Saturday.
He did not possess any identification papers when he was captured. The police, however, acquired a notebook from the foreigner. The notebook of the foreigner contains words written in the Russian language. The foreigner also had a bible with him in one of his two backpacks.
Despite having a Russian interpreter talk to the foreigner, the suspect still did not spoke. After investigations, the officers did not find any records of the foreigner entering the country. There are speculations that the foreign man was smuggled into the country.
This may cause the man a sentence of a maximum of 3 years imprisonment or a fine of NT $90,000 in violation of the Immigration Act.
It was theorized that the foreigner may have reached the area from the construction site of Terminal 3, but the local authorities had not collected the exact story on how the event occurred.
