The Public is Advised to Remain Calm Amidst First Coronavirus Case in Taiwan

Su Tseng-chang, Taiwan’s Premier, had provided reassurance to the public that they should not panic after the report of the first Coronavirus case in the country. The first coronavirus case in the country was made on Tuesday.

This announcement was made to ensure that the people of Taiwan will not panic before the celebration of the Lunar New Year. The seven-day celebration of the Lunar New Year will start on January 23.

According to Su, a huge amount of face masks will be widely distributed when the need arises.

In a social media post by Su, he said that the government is currently in possession of 1.93 million N95 masks and 44 million surgical masks. He said that the need to add on the country’s stocks is still not needed. Government agencies in charge of controlling and overseeing the health threats in the country are on the lookout for the virus.

China had already reported 440 Coronavirus cases with a total of nine deaths. Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and the United States had already reported the same case of the virus.

According to Motex, a surgical manufacturer of N95 masks, said that other manufacturing firms are functioning at full capacity to provide for the increasing demand and orders. Some are producing more than 10 million units every month. The company said that its supply is sufficient to provide for the people of Taiwan when the need arises.

According to a physician from the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, surgical masks can provide the needed protection from viral particles.
