List of Areas Where ECQ and GCQ is Extended Until May 15



President Rodrigo Duterte gave his approval to the recommendations submitted by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in some areas in the country. Also, some places in the country are placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) until May 15. This decision is made to prevent the further spread of the deadly SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.


As the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in some areas in the country, the IATF recommended the extension of the ECQ until May 15. Additionally, they recommended that those areas that are under moderate to low risk to be placed under GCQ.

The decision of the president was announced at 8 in the morning on April 24.

The high-risk areas in the country that are covered by the extended ECQ until May 15,2020 includes

•Benguet (may change by April 30, 2020)

According to the statement of the president’s spokesperson Harry Roque, the status of some areas mentioned is still subject to changes based on the risks and evaluation by the government.

Those under GCQ in low-risk areas until May 15 may be relaxed to normalization if the deterioration is not observed.

Employees who are in areas previously under ECQ but are now GCQ will be allowed by the government to leave their homes and go to work in phases. Senior citizens, minors, and those with pre-existing health conditions are still advised to remain indoors.
