Tainan: 1-Year-Old Toddler Passed Away after allegedly Being Beaten by Mother and Three Others

18-month-old toddler passed away last January 15, 2019, in Tainan City, Taiwan after being beaten by her father, 17-year-old mother and two other individuals.
The toddler, Lee (surname) was said to have suffered severe injuries. Her mother, Hsueh (surname) confessed that she often beat up her child. The father also told the police that he’s guilty of the crime. It was also suspected that two cousins of Hsueh ill-treated the toddler as well.
Hsueh, together with some friends rushed the toddler to Kuo General Hospital due to the weakness of breath while on their way to a KTV bar. The doctors tried to resuscitate the baby but they eventually declared the passing of the child afterward.

After finding bruised and scabby wounds on the baby’s limbs and face, the medical staff notified the police because of suspected domestic violence. The girl had extensive bruises at her back, hands, and feet.

Hsueh confessed beating up the child with a backscratcher every time the toddler cries. The father, a taxi driver was also known to impose “discipline” to the little girl. Two of Hsueh’s cousins are also suspects of negligent homicide. Police have taken some household items such as the backscratcher, plastic pipe and rattan cane.
Outside the police station, about 100 angry citizens gathered while the police questioned the suspects. Police tried to disperse the mob but they still stayed outside the station. Some vigilantes from the group even smashed one of the windshields of the taxi owned by the child’s father.
Angry netizens from Taiwan reacted to the incident and they were furious about it. They couldn’t believe how the parents can do such abusive behavior to a 1-year-old child. They are praying for justice and that the people who committed the crime to be punished accordingly.
