In communities, being late always has a negative association to it. It is perceived in almost everybody in a society as a bad trait. Yes, being late in special events and during arrival at work has its bad effects like the deterioration of a person’s reputation.

In a recent study, tardiness could also have positive effects on people. Despite the fact that some people who always arrive late at special events like business meetings and family meetings, most of these latecomers are successful in life. The study also concluded that most of the people who are always late live longer.

It is also stated in the study that having an inaccurate sense of time is connected to optimism which is termed as a Type B Personality. These people are good at doing multi-tasked work. These optimistic characteristics of Type B personality traits lead to successful personal lives and a successful career path.

People with Type A Personality Traits, compared to people with Type B Personality Traits, perceive time to pass very fast. People with Type B Personality tend to be more creative and people with this type of personality perceive time as much slower compared to how people with Type A Personality perceive time. Thus, it is concluded that people with Type B Personality are happier.

A study performed by Harvard Medical School stated that having an optimistic outlook and a cheerful take on life can lead to a longer life span.

Though being late can have its positive effects, it is still not a good idea to make your family, friends, and workmates wait for you every time. One better way to live a longer life without being a nuisance to anyone is to try your best to avoid tardiness and try to not stress yourself too much about time.
