5 Dead and 10 Injured as Van with 13 OFW Passengers Gets into an Accident in Apalit, Pampanga
Five passengers died while 10 were injured from an accident of a van that had overturned on the northbound lane of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) viaduct at Apalit, Pampanga.
All of the victims of the accident were the passengers of a van which they had rented out to deliver thirteen of its passengers to the Clark International Airport. The thirteen passengers of the van are all Overseas Filipino Workers bound to the Middle East for deployment.
None of the OFWs were able to catch up with their flight.
The van was on driving along the NLEX at Apalit, Pampanga when one tire of the van suddenly had burst. The bursting of the van’s tire had caused the van to overturn and roll a lot of times.
Six were found lying on the road while nine of the passengers fell from the van. The nine had landed from the elevated part of the NLEX and into the residential area below it. One of the nine passengers that fell from the van is still missing.
The fatal fall of the nine passengers to the residential area below an elevated part in the NLEX at Apalit, Pampanga is measured at around 20 feet tall.
The victims who survived the accident were hurriedly brought to the nearest hospital. They are currently being treated for recovery. Some had already contacted their loved ones.
The Apalit Police are still investigating on the matters of the accident.
