P360,000 cash prize up for grabs as e-sports Tournament by Taiwan to be Held in the Philippines
In the midst of the popularity of electronic gaming in the country, it is decided that the 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup will be conducted in the Philippines. The event will be held in the country for the first time.
The competition will be organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade. The main prize for the event is 360,000 Php.
The games which the participants will be competing in are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) and League of Legends (LoL).
The start of registration for the event will start on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Elimination rounds for the CSGO participants will be on July 13, July 20, and July 27. The elimination rounds for the LoL participants will be on August 3, August 10, August 17, and on August 24.
It is estimated that 2,000 people from the Philippines will be participating in the said event. The grand finals will be on October 4 and October 5 at the North Edsa The Block, Quezon City.
According to CT Wu, the director of the Strategic Marketing Department at TAITRA, Taiwan is famous for its growing electronics industry, with outstanding innovations and high-quality products being developed for distribution worldwide.
CT Wu also stated that Taiwan is proud to share to the Filipinos their industry-leading brands for Esports-use.
Malaysia and Thailand are two of the countries that the Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup had been conducted.
