The committee arranges a meeting every three months to make decisions about the minimum wage of the country. The changes to these are introduced on January 1 of the following year. During this period, the date of any revisions precedes the following presidential and legislative elections in just 10 days.
According to Hsu, the decision will greatly affect the living conditions of many marginal and lowest-paid workers in the country.
Hsu expressed her respect for the decisions which the committee will agree upon. She said that her ministry will have discussions with the members of the deciding committee before August 14. The next meeting will be held in the office of the labor ministry at 10 in the morning on August 14, 2019.
