P336k to P1M Penalty | Heavy fines to be slapped vs.Filipinos who bring pork and pork items to Taiwan




There will be a restriction on the entry of pork meat products in the country of Taiwan. Since the African Swine Flu had reached the Philippine territories and devastated a huge population of the poultry industry, Taiwan had released precautionary measures to avoid contracting the illness.

Filipinos are now restricted to bring inside the territory of Taiwan any pork products coming from the Philippines. This is for strict compliance and is created for Taipei’s biosecurity against the swine disease. Violators will be asked to pay a penalty of an amount equal to 336,000 PHP to 1.6 million PHP.

A reminder from the Philippines' Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Animal Industry was posted on their facebook page. They had said that Taiwan will be strictly performing baggage inspections to travelers coming from the Philippines. People who will be caught bringing-in pork and other pork products from the Philippines will be charged a penalty.




According to the post released by the Bureau of Animal Industry in Facebook, a letter of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine addressed to the Department of Agriculture saying that higher fines will be charged to Filipinos who will be caught bringing in pork products in the country.



Taiwan is strictly performing baggage inspections for Filipinos and other travelers originating from the Philippines said the BAI on Thursday.




For the protection of Taiwan against getting infected with the African Swine Flu, they had implemented drastic measures to prevent the entry of the disease in the country. Filipinos and other travelers coming from the Philippines who will be bringing pork products made in the country will be charged with a penalty of NT $200,000 to NT $1,000,000. For violators who will be caught for the first time, they will be asked to pay a penalty fee of NT$200,000 (336,000 Php). For those who had violated the rule for the second time, the fine will be worth NT $1,000,000 (1.6 million Php).

The said precautionary measures are also being applied by Taiwan to other African Swine Flu- affected countries like China and other Asian nations.

These measures started on September 6, 2019. Taiwan plans to work closely with the Philippines in combating viral animal diseases.

William Dar, the secretary of agriculture in Taiwan had released a statement saying that the country is still finalizing and confirming an updated version of the list of the regions where the African Swine Flu had spread in the Philippines.
