Watch | Son of an OFW breaks into tears, Refuses to go with her Mom

Every member of a family has an important role to play not only for their family but also for society. A mother is the light of the home. As the father provides for the family, the mother gives light to the home by being the family’s source of hope and direction.

The ideal comprises a father, a mother, and their children but the ideal family sometimes does not exist for some. Some circumstances cause a father and a mother to live separately wherein one of them gets full custody of their child or children.

Single parents have it hard as they play the role of their family’s provider and light. Some single mothers, work and take care of their children. It is a difficult task to provide food on their children’s plates and still give them the love and attention their children need.

In a video shared by Lyn Gonzales, an OFW in Hong Kong, he shared a video of her son (named Ken) in the Philippines crying. Ken was crying and saying that he doesn’t want to go with her mom. He had been living with his mother’s different friends and relatives in the Philippines because his mom had been an OFW since he was 8 years old.

Kin’s parents are separated. He is solely being raised by his mom. Kin had been used to living without his mom and dad by his side. In the video, he is crying and expressing his sadness because he had been living with the different relatives and friends of his mother after she had worked as an OFW since he was eight.

He admits in the video that he had alcohol in his system. The alcohol had given the child the courage to express his intense sadness. As he cries, he admits he is being bullied by his friends for not having a dad and mom who lives with him.

As an OFW, it gives immense sadness to see her child cry for missing her and wanting to live as an ideal family with a mother and a father.  Lyn Gonzales was even advised by some of the members of the social media community to not renew her contract to work in Hong Kong and just live in the Philippines with his son. It will be a difficult decision for him to make because she is not only acting as a mother for her family. She is also the sole provider.
