South Korea may offer Visa Free entry for Filipino's



Based on the statement released by the ambassador of South Korea, Han Dong-man to Manila, one of the measures that South Korea is considering to limit or control the illegal settling of Filipinos in the country is the extension of the no-visa privileges of Filipino citizens. It was forecasted by South Korea that there are approximately 15,000 illicit Filipino settlers in the country.




The statement was given during a media conference before the 30th Asean-ROK Commemorative Summit which was held in Busan, South Korea on the 24th of November this year.

Han Dong-man said that in the future, there could be a no-visa policy between the two countries of the Philippines and South Korea. He also said that there is a significant number of illegal Filipino settlers in the country.

He said that 150,000 Filipinos in South Korea are undocumented. Some are living there while some are working. He also alarms that their numbers are getting higher.

The president of the Philippines was also part of the summit. Participants to the summit will talk about the terms and other details of an agreement dor the free-trade agreement for the following year.




According to the Ambassador of the Philippines in South Korea, the country has multiple negotiations with South Korea for the no-visa entry for both citizens in the two countries. This will help control the imbalance of visitors coming and living in both countries.

The ambassador also said that there had been many informal conferences regarding the matter between the two countries. Koreans are the number one tourist arrivals in the country. These travelers do not need visas if they plan on staying in the Philippines for 30 days or less. The Department of Tourism of the Philippines forecasts at least two million Korean travelers to the country before 2019 ends.
