Good News | Bicol International Airport will start its operation in 2020

One of the most awaited projects of the country that was delayed for eleven years is nearing its completion day. The Bicol International Airport or the BIA in Daraga, Albay will be opening soon. It was dubbed as the “Most Scenic Gateway” in the country.




According to the Department of Transportation or DOTr, the Bicol Internation Airport (BIA) will start its official operations in 2020. The announcement was made by the government agency through a post on their official Facebook account last January 4, 2020, on Saturday.

In the present, the airport had reached a construction completion ratio of 62.042 percent. Its contractors are aiming to complete the project in July this year.




It was reported that the airport had begun its construction in 2008. It was later postponed for having a failed bidding.

It is estimated that the Bicol International Airport can accommodate 2 million airport passengers every year. The bonus for the passengers and visitors to the airport is the wondrous scenery and the sight of the famous Mayon Volcano.
