Biñan City Turning Volcanic ashes into useful bricks

The local Government unit of Biñan has been very busy sweeping the ashfall from scattered all over the City.

The ashfall that they collected is then transported to the eco-park where it is used as a primary material for making bricks or hollow blocks.

According to the mayor of Biñan, Mayor Arman Dimaguila Jr., in the past, the local government had made bricks made from recycled materials.

Since there were lots of ashes collected from the area, the local government thought to turn them into bricks which they donate to the people who have been affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano.

Each brick is composed of 40% ashfall, 30% recycled materials, 20% sand, and 10% cement. The material recovery facility of the local government of Biñan can produce at least 7,000 bricks per day.

Aside from bricks, the ashfall can also be used to make hollow blocks and plant boxes.
