Chinese Male Suspected to Carry the 2020 Coronavirus Dies in San Lazaro Hospital
A citizen of China who was under observation for the 2019-nCoV had passed away while confined in San Lazaro Hospital, said the director of the hospital.
Dr. Edmundo Lopez, the director of the San Lazaro Hospital, had released a statement to the officials of the Department of Health. He said that the deceased 29 years old Chinese male patient was not confirmed to have carried the 2020 coronavirus.
Lopez told the press that at seven in the morning, the suspected 2020 coronavirus carrier had passed away. The patient was admitted to the hospital on Monday.
According to the doctor, the patient was observed to have been showcasing various symptoms before he died. Some of the medical conditions found from the patient were anal warts and cervical lesions. The patient originated from the province of Yunnan in China.
The cause of the passing of the patient was pneumonia. The patient was also tested positive for HIV.
As of the moment, the samples taken from the deceased patient before he died are still being tested for the 2019-nCoV.
Fake news circulated that the San Lazaro Hospital is under lockdown for a possible 2020 coronavirus case after the death of a doctor who attended to a patient with the virus.
Doctor Ferdinand de Guzman, the spokesperson of the hospital, announced that the news is not true.
As of the moment, there are still 23 people who are being suspected of carrying the 2020 coronavirus, said the DOH. Four were already released after being closely monitored by health authorities.
