Dismembered body of Chinese-Malaysian Woman Discovered in Keelung

The Taipei Police had issued the security footage of a suspect in a crime of dismemberment and killing of a woman with Chinese and Malaysian descent. The woman was reported to have gone missing at the beginning of the month before the dismembered body of the 26-year-old woman was discovered by the police on Saturday.

According to the police, based on the security footage, a man named Lin age 45 is believed to be a suspect to the death and dismemberment of the victim.

The investigation started on January 6 when a friend of the victim reported to the police her sudden disappearance according to her friend the victim did not show up for work.

After the report, police officers went to the apartment where the reported missing person lived. It was a rental apartment located in the Wanhua District of Taipei. Upon their arrival, they immediately interviewed everyone around the neighborhood. One of the persons that they interviewed was Lin. It was later found out by the police that Lin had a criminal record involving theft and robbery.


The police went back to the neighborhood of the victim when some residents reported a strong disinfectant and chemical-like smell. Lin was no-where to be found in the area.

Through the use of security cameras and GPS on the mobile phone of Lin, the police were able to track his movements. A woman’s dismembered body was discovered in Keelung’s mountainous area on Saturday.

Based on the investigation, it was believed by the police that the victim may have been murdered and dismembered in her room before her remains’ disposal in Keelung.

Lin is suspected to be hiding in Taipei, Keelung, or New Taipei. His location was traced through the signal of his mobile phone. The police are encouraging the public to contact them at 110 or at Wanhua Precinct’s number (02)2311-7878 to report any information regarding Lin.
