Health Minister Chen Shih-chung warns the public regarding posible Coronavirus explotion in the next two weeks
A possible increase of COVID-19 cases in Taiwan in the coming weeks is currently concerning
Health Minister and Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) Head Chen Shih-chung.
He warned during his report on March 18 at the Legislative Yuan that the next two weeks could possibly reveal more cases of the disease and its severity in the country. Chen even added that he expected a huge wave of COVID-19 confirmed cases on Wednesday and Thursday (March 18 and 19) and advised the Taiwanese government to take action immediately.
Although Taiwan has now recorded a decline in the local transmissions of the virus this March, most of the confirmed cases are now coming from persons who have travel histories abroad.
Chen admitted that the skyrocketing number of COVID-19 cases in the country in just a short period of time came as a shock to the government which is now mulling over international travel restrictions.
To combat the fast-spreading virus, Chen reminded the Taiwanese citizens to join hands in complying with government policies and temporarily cancel all social gatherings to observe safety.
