Taiwan reported 15 more cases of wuhan coronavirus, bringing the total of 267
15 more cases of COVID-19 are announced by Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on March 26. Making the total of the infected rise to 267.
CECC head Chen Shih-chung (陳時ä¸) announced during a press conference on Thursday afternoon that those new cases are all imported. In total there were six women and nine men, age ranging from 10 to 60. They recently visited central and South America, the Philippines, UK, U.S., and Australia
Six of the cases traveled to the UK recently. They gone abroad for work, Chen said. Seven of the latest cases came from the United States. The dates of their entry ranged to March 15 and 25. The onset of the disease ranged from March 8 to 25.
The Health Minister said that the current cases have been involved in three clusters of events.
254th case has gone to the U.S. in August last year for study. The individual visited a classmate from March 5 to 19, which is the 218th case, who developed symptoms on March 17. 254th case experienced the symptoms on the 20th of March and was suspected to have the case by the quarantine personnel at the arrival in Taiwan on March 24. The person got diagnosed on March 27.
257th and 258th cases were studying at the same school and department in U.K. Prior to their arrival in Taiwan, 257th case got ill on March 12 and suspected for the disease on March 24 (the date of their arrival).
After returning to Taiwan on March 22, according to orders 258th case was placed under home quarantine. The person began presenting symptoms on March 23. Both were tested positive on March 27 for coronavirus.
CECC said that 264th and 267th were a couple that visited UK in accordance to their business trip from March 8 to March 25. They were reported by quarantine inspectors for being suspected of having the symptoms on March 25. They were diagnosed to have the disease on March 27.
According to CECC the country currently has 267 cases in total. 227 among the cases were imported, the 40 were domestic. Two people died from COVID-19 and 30 were released from the quarantine at the hospital.
