Poll Reveals 9 out of 10 Filipinos Trust President Duterte amid COVID-19 Pandemic



Nine out of 10 Filipinos stated that they highly trust President Rodrigo Duterte and his administration amid the COVID-19 pandemic, says a poll consultancy organization called EON Group and research company Tangere.

Duterte was able to attain a 94.03 percent trust rating, based on the poll.


Additionally, the overall trust for Pasig Mayor Victor María Regis, also known as ‘Vico Sotto,’ was high. He was the only local government leader that was mentioned in the report. He attained a rating of 96.61 percent.

The senate president Vicente Sotto III attained a rate of 56.17 percent while the house speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was able to get a 99.19 percent rating.

Furthermore, the Vice President of the Philippines Maria Leonor Robredo received less than half of the total trust rate with 40.09 percent.


Different government offices who are playing a significant role in the frontlines amid the pandemic are also getting good rates.

The Department of Health received an 84.79 percent trust ratio, the Department of Interior and Local Government attained 82.19 percent, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development was able to get a 74.89 percent trust rate.

According to the report, compliance and cooperation with government orders are centered on the trust of the public. This is especially true amid the crisis that had brings anxiety and increases uncertainty.


The trust of the people to its government and its agencies, especially during the current pandemic is influenced by the actions and engagement of the country’s government to its people.

The participants of the study were 5,425 Tangere app users from different parts of the country. Moreover, there was no information provided by EON about the time when the poll was done and its margin of error.
