Philippine Flag Mistakenly Raised in the War Position by an Advertisement Agency in Taiwan

A public apology was issued and published by the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor in Taiwan to the Philippine Government on Thursday, February 14, 2019. The issue started when a Filipino migrant was able to spot an advertisement showing the national flag of the Philippines in the war position. It was found out that the advertisement was released on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

The advertising campaign was made for a counseling and protection hotline for workers from outside of Taiwan.

The Philippine Flag showcase a lot of the country’s history. The three stars represent the three islands of Luzon, Panay, and Mindanao. The white triangle symbolizes Katipunan which helped trigger a revolt against the foreign colonizers. The sun and its eight rays symbolize the first eight Tagalog provinces that rebelled against the Spaniards. When the Philippine flag is raised with the blue color at the top then the country is not at war while if the Philippine flag is raised with the red color at the top then the country is at war.
