OFW News | Taiwan Employer Gives an Adult Toy to Pinay Migrant Worker

Overseas Filipino Workers resist the temptation to go back to their home country because of the difficulty of providing a means to live for their family. It is easier for OFWs to earn enough money in a different country so that they can give their family in the Philippines a better lifestyle.

Some OFWs when they leave the Philippines to work in another country, they don’t go back for years. Some don’t even go on vacation leaves just so they can maximize their earning potential to send more money to their loved one in the country.

Married couples go on long-distance relationships when one of them goes to another country to work so that they can make a way to send their children to school and pay their monthly bills. These married couples can go on for years without seeing each other and still be in love.

One challenge for these couples who are in a long-distance relationship is the loneliness from missing the warm embrace of each other.

An employer of a 33-year-old Pinay OFW in Taiwan had been amazed at how she had been able to stand working for four years without any leave or absences.

The said OFW shared on Facebook that a year ago, her boss was asking her if she needs a toy to let her lessen her loneliness from her lover in the Philippines.  She was so shy to answer and politely rejected the offer.

One day, while she was performing her duties at work, she received a package addressed to her boss. After giving the package to her boss, she continued with her usual routine not knowing that the package she has received will eventually be given to her. 

During the night, after showering, she found an adult toy placed near her phone. She knew that it was for her because that is where she always placed her phone while taking a shower. She knew that there is no malicious intention or sexual harassment involved with the gesture of her employer because according to her the use of those kinds of stuff is normal in Taiwan.

Up until now, she is still at a dilemma on how to relay her thanks to her boss. She feels awkward to say “thank you” in person and through chat.
