A Filipino was among the Four Seized for Planting and Selling Marijuana in Taiwan

An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Taiwan and 3 citizens of Taiwan had been detained by Taichung authorities on Thursday this week for planting and trading marijuana in the country.

According to Taichung authorities, the OFW who was detained with the Taiwanese for illegal planting and selling of marijuana is named Majcher Joseth Tolibas, 19 years old. The three Taiwanese are named Ho, Sun, and Shen. They were found to have been growing marijuana in their residence area in Taichung and Tainan.

According to the charges pressed against them, Sun and Tolibas had been planting marijuana in their residential place in Taichung and Tainan. Their operations had been funded by Ho since September of the year 2017.

Sun and Tolibas were responsible for planting and preparing the product for selling. It was also found out that Sun had requested Shen to buy the seeds of marijuana in the United States. Shen was able to buy the seeds from the US through some friends.

After months of investigations, the residences of Sun and Tolibas was finally raided on February 20th by government authorities and police. This was from a tip they received in November of the previous year. Some of the illegal materials found in Sun’s and Tolibas’ residences were the marijuana seeds, marijuana flowers, processing equipment, and the actual product being sold.

On Thursday, all of them were charged with illegally going against the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act of Taiwan.
