Taiwan’s Confirmed 2020 Coronavirus Case Reaches 7

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) of Taiwan had reported that there are two new cases of the 2019-nCoV. This makes a total of 7 cases in the country as of January 28.

Both of the new cases are two Chinese women who are in their 70s, reported by the CECC during a press conference. They arrived in Taiwan on January 22. While in Taiwan, they caught a fever (three days after their arrival in the country) and immediately seek medical attention.

The two are now in isolation wards that only allow an inward flow of air, said the CECC.

CECC announced that the two are in stable condition. The health authorities in the country are now investigating to track the places where the two had visited.

Currently, there is a total of 530 suspected cases of the 2019-nCoV in Taiwan since the virus had entered the country. There are seven confirmed cases of the disease in Taiwan; all of them are under treatment.

269 suspected cases had been tested negative for the disease. The remaining are still being tested.

The personal contacts of the five previous confirmed cases of the virus were traced to have contacted 470 people. Six of them are now being tested for the virus.

The World Health Organization had already warned the public that the virus could be transferred from human to human contact. It had already increased its alert for traveling to China to the highest level possible in its warning system. People are now discouraged from going to China.

The travel alerts issued by the World Health Organization excludes Macao and Hong Kong.
