New 17 cases of coronavirus are recorded causing for Taiwan's case to rise to 252


17 more cases of those who are infected with COVID-19  emerged, announced by Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on March 26 (Thursday). The case in Taiwan rose to 252.

Two of the case are locally transmitted, while fifteen were imported, declared by the Health Minister and CECC head Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) during a conference on Thursday. He said that the largest number out of the current batch of cases imported came from the UK.


The 246th case was a man in his 60s. He lives together with the 209th case who was recently in the U.S. He did not show any symptoms that would indicate he was infected, but when it was discovered that he came in contact with the 209th case, he was tested positive for COVID-19.

228th and 247th case lives in the same family household. 228th recently came from the Netherlands. 247th became ill on March 23 and was diagnosed after she sought for testing and medical treatment for the coronavirus.

In the 15 total of identified imported cases, eight were men and seven were women between the ages of 20 and 60, Chen said. The date of when they traveled into the country ranged between March 16 and 23. The date of onset of the disease was dated between March 11 and 23.

Before being tested positive for the disease, the patients had logged trips recently to Mexico, Philippines, South Pole. The United Kingdom, United States, Argentina, Malaysia, Monaco, Qatar, Chile, Spain, Czech Republic, Australia, and New Zealand. The most visited country is UK, new six confirmed cases emerged having recently traveled to the country.


For new cases imported connected with already existing relevant clusters, the 248th case is included with a tour group and visited Spain from March 12 to March 20. 170th and 189th cases, who are two members of the trip to Spain, were tested positive for the disease on March 23.

The 248th case didn't show any symptoms regarding the COVID-19, but since they traveled with the tour group that went to Spain they had to be tested as well. That group has now three cases.

14 of the remaining coronavirus cases were not associated with recently announced infections. Most of them did outdoor activities that require social gathering or simply work or Tourism.

237th case traveled to different countries and continents. He was in his 50s and had a list of travel which included Antarctica, U.S., Chile, Argentina, Qatar, and a flight transit through Bangkok, Thailand from February 19 to March 19. He developed symptoms on March 23 and was tested positive on March 25.

No foreign nationals among newly confirmed cases on Thursday were identified.
